24 Screencasts About Camtasia in 24 Hours!
Posted on Tuesday July 6, 2010 by Betsy Weber

Hi, my name is Betsy and I don't need any sleep. Well, really, I do, but we had so much fun pulling an all-nighter for Snagit that we're going to do it again for Camtasia!
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 13. We will make 24 screencasts in 24 hours about Camtasia! You can tune in here on our LiveStream Channel starting at 8:00am ET (GMT - 4:00). You'll get to meet many people on the Camtasia team including Shane Lovellette, the Product Manager, Camtasia developers, members of our training and tech support teams and a few special guests.
You'll get loads of insider tips and tricks for Camtasia Studio, Camtasia for Mac and screencasting. And, don't fear - if you cannot tune-in live, we'll be recording each segment and posting the produced videos throughout the day here on the blog.
I'll also have a variety of prizes to give away on our LiveStream Channel and on Twitter - @techsmith. So, brush up on your Camtasia and TechSmith trivia!
We'll hit on a variety of topics including:
- The History of Camtasia
- Use Cursor data to change the cursor AFTER you record
- Playhead improvements
- Direct upload to Screencast.com
- The new User Interface - why the change?
- System audio - it's finally here!
- Understanding editing tracks on the Camtasia for Mac timeline
- Aspect ratios and alternate dimensions
- Recording and codecs
- YouTube - What's the best format?
- The art of storytelling
- Getting great sound
- The power of Hotkeys
- All about the Library
- Microphone and Webcam Roundup
- Things you never thought to do with screen recording
- Ignite your screencast - recording live events.
- Using Camtasia in Education
- Sketch Motion Callouts and how to use them
More details to come! Oh, and I have slots open for 'Viewer's Choice'. That's where I need your help! What would you like to see us cover? Chime in on the comments...

Hey Bets,
I will for sure be there. The last all-nighter was fun and helpful. I would love to see the best settings for fonts, screen dimensions, etc. for planning on putting DVD's to be able to play and look good on an HDTV. This would be an excellent topic IMHO. Looking forward to being there. Did you get my email about my shirt size(s) and a new OmNOm? email me and let me know. Keep up the great work and get some rest before this great event.

Betsy,
I still find the most challenging aspect of the program to be all of the variations of production settings. A quick tour of what to use when and why would be helpful. I often go back to the Parks book to help figure it out.
Looking forward to learning more.

I would like to see a session on translating screencasts. This seems to be a near impossible task, but your team has perfected it.

A few other ideas for topics:
* Incorporating Prezi into your screencast. Prezi (see prezi.com) seems like an easy way to incorporate flash-like effects and other animations into a screencast.
* Rendering the screencast into HD without going through youtube or some other video sharing service. (Or simply tips on HD videos with youtube.)
* Creating or customizing one of the flash intro slides from Digital Radius. These are pretty amazing.
* Creating a sketch/drawing video like you did with the CS 7 overview video here: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp
* Publishing the videos online -- you have javascript that opens specifically customized video windows in a cool way. I'm also interested in ways to list all the videos like you do in your footer area.
* Places to get audio effects beyond the build-in sound effects library.

Perhaps something about working with different versions of CS. I often work with people who have version 5 or 6 (hard to believe, I know) and we have to manage what gets edited in what version and forward/backward conversion.
Also, I think an entire hour should be devoted to the SWAG from Techsmith. Example: My mini-screwdriver set has saved my life multiple times, my Techsmith Titanium spork has eaten more meals than I have, and my Techsmith coffee mug is always half full....or half empty.

Glad to see the event is going for 24 hours.
Those of us in Australian time zones will be able to attend during our day/evening time instead of middle of the night.
Looking forward to it.

I was not able to attend this event. Is there going to be an archive available to view at a later date?

I didn't make it to camtasia screencast since I only found this post now. But I wish there are screencast like this in the near future. I am interested on learning camtasia so that I could be able to record and do some stuffs that I haven't done before.
