Final Videos - 24 Videos in 24 Hours with Camtasia Studio
Posted on Tuesday February 17, 2009 by Betsy Weber

Our screencasting marathon has started! I'll be posting the final Camtasia Studio screencasts here today as they become available. Rather than create 24 separate blog posts with each video throughout the day, I thought it would be easier just to post them in one post as they become available.
Troy Stein, the Camtasia Studio Product Manager, is the host in all the videos. We had a variety of guests throughout the day and night.

I really like the way the captions are handled with the SWF-FLV controller that toggles the captions on and off. If I choose to go with MPG-4 and H.264 as you have been recommending, will I be able to get the same kind of capability in handling the captions with an on-off toggle button?

Betsy, did the videos listed above that have no links not get done or were the links missed? Love Camtasia Studio and SnagIt! Thanks for everything you all do there at Techsmith...

Great work you guys! Have now watched all the available screencasts & have learnt a load of new hints & tips.
What a great way of showing quickly & simply a lot of Camtasia's potential. It would have taken me months to uncover so many nuggets!
Enjoy your well deserved rest.

Great stuff! These are really valuable and give us a unique insight into how you guys use your own tools. I'm curious -- why did you pick 640 x 360 as your production dimensions on Screencast.com?
Also -- I noticed that your videos were all Flash format. Does that mean they were FLVs? And if so...why not MP4s? Does that have something to do with your original broadcast on ustream?

I noticed that some of the sessions are missing links. Are those videos still producing? LOL

@Will: I chose the 640x360 b/c it matched the dimensions of the little HD video camera I was using. The videos were produced in MPEG4 video format. We'll have FLV back in 6.0.2 at the end of March. But, even with the choice, I'd probably go with MPEG4 b/c that gives us the option of allowing folks to download the files and take them with you... something you can't do with FLV.

Just imagine how useful your service would be if you allowed us to download and save these tutorials so we could watch at our leisure !!!!
I don't have time to squander when I'm doing client projects; all you do with this type of marketing is create frustration ...
You got something to say or do, then be a greater service and let us save files for viewing another time !!!

I am enthused and excited by how Camtasia has the products and techniques to handle screencasts. Please don't think my suggestions are anything ,but cheerleading you to greater heights. Don't you think a permanent background of your choosing would be preferable to the black cloth hung in the background?
One simple way in the studio would be in front of a large HD TV where the computer screen is "playing a background" on a DVD. But when you are shooting outside a studio there needs to be an easier way.
Can anyone help control the background electronically?

Well done! - much better that your main competitor's 'evangelistic' approach to presentations. 'Information without the drivel' - keep it up!
