What's Up With Camtasia Studio on the Mac?
Posted on Wednesday August 13, 2008 by Betsy Weber
It's been awhile since we've had an update about Camtasia Studio on the Mac. The planets aligned last week and Troy Stein, the Camtasia Studio Product Manager, and I were actually both in the office on the same day. I was able to get a quick video with him about the project!
It's a quick video and runs just over 5 minutes long. I hope it answers some of your questions and offers you some insight into what we're working on.
I will be giving you regular updates here on the blog and via Twitter. And, we have a Mac newsletter - sign up for a subscription or get the RSS feed here.
What questions do you have about Camtasia Studio for the Mac? Troy and I will be making another video soon.

Betsy & Troy,
Thanks so much for the update. I know a lot of us are eagerly awaiting this product. Having used just about every Mac screencasting tool out there, there is room for improvement. The tools have significantly improved in the last few months though and one is clearly superior.
Camtasia will be a welcomed addition, a worthy competitor, and a catalyst for more innovation. Hopefully I'm still on the beta list ;-)
Also, the video didn't embed in Google Reader. I'd hate for some readers to miss the video so you might want to mention they need to visit the site to see it.
Keep up the great work and we're looking forward to hearing more soon.

The video of interview only played about 15 minutes after I clicked play... I'd answered a phnoe call and it took me by surprise when it came to life...
This is a problem I've also found with Screencast.com -- because there's no compression, or way to set the destination display size, you're often trying to play a massive file...
But I'm guessing.
Do ohers have same problem?
Simon
PS: I have Firefox 3.04 on Mac OSX 10.5.5 and a high-speed connection

Video for Camtasia appears not to play in Flash 10 or Firefox. Has similar problems with older versions of Articulate in Flash 10.
As for Jing, too late chaps ...Voila has beaten you to it, almost as good as Snagit and light years ahead of Jing.
