Screencast of the Week - July 4, PowerPoint and Geetesh Bajaj

Posted on Sunday July 1, 2007 by Betsy Weber

In the United States, next week, on July 4th, it's time to gather up the family, fire up the grill, line up for a parade and stake your spot on the lawn to watch some fireworks...and for some, it's time to make a Camtasia Studio video. ;-)

And that brings me to this week's Screencast of the Week. PowerPoint MVP, Geetesh Bajaj, recently sent me the following video:

I thought many of you would be interested in doing something similar. It's a quick and easy way to make your own slideshow presentation with Camtasia. I like making these types of animated slideshows for gifts. It's an easy way to capture and share the fun with other family members.

Geetesh has sample presentations for other holidays and events that you can view here.

Geetesh told me he made the video by taking his PowerPoint presentation and exporting all slides as PNGs. Then you can import the PNGs into Camtasia Studio, add a soundtrack, insert Camtasia's transitions, and produce it as a WMV. Then he uploaded the Camtasia Studio video to YouTube. You can see more about this presentation here.

To export your slides as a PNG in PowerPoint 2007, select, Save As>Other Formats.

PPT_Save

Then, under 'Save as Type', select PNG.
