Camtasia Screencast of the Week - Aptana
Posted on Sunday June 10, 2007 by Betsy Weber
This week's Screencast of the Week comes from Paul Colton and Aptana. Aptana is a free, open source developer environment for building Ajax applications.
Click the screenshot below to view several screencasts.
I like the screencasts, but I also like the following:
- You'll notice on their home page, Aptana is using a very interesting and creative header (or see the animated GIF below that I created with Camtasia Studio). I really, really like this.
The header consists of multiple screenshots put into a Flash slideshow. You could do something similar by using Camtasia Studio's 'Save Frame As' feature to save frames from your Camtasia Studio videos as a BMP, JPG, GIF or PNG (Find this in Camtasia Studio at: File>Save Frame As... or shortcut key Ctrl+F). Looks like they used Monoslideshow to make the header. I'll have to try this out with some SnagIt screen captures and other pics.
- Aptana purchased the .tv domain for a nice repository for all of their screencasts. If you're making lots of screencasts, you might want to consider purchasing the .tv domain for your site. Which reminds me...get someone to purchase TechSmith.tv.
Any nominations for next week's Screencast of the Week? E-mail me or post in the comments!
