Camtasia Studio plus PowerPoint = Magic

Posted on Wednesday February 7, 2007 by Betsy Weber

PowerPoint MVP, Geetesh Bajaj from Indezine has a nice review and tutorial on the Camtasia Studio v4.0 PowerPoint add-in. Check it out here.

Also, Geetesh has a new book coming out all about PowerPoint 2007 called Special Edition Using Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 which you can find out more about it here.

Here's an excerpt from his book on page 423 about Camtasia Studio:

Camtasia Studio is a complete solution for recording, editing, and publishing presentations that can convert your PowerPoint presentation to Flash, plus do much more.

Here's my pic with Geetesh at a past PowerPoint Live.

We all have a lot to learn about PowerPoint 2007. And this book will help! Congrats Geetesh! I've ordered my copy. Who wants to start a book club with me?

According to the link indicated above, the book is already available (as of 08-Dec-2006). I took a peek at the book on Safari, but it really doesn't seem to offer any new information for Camtasia Studio users.

Here's a PowerPoint tip I haven't seen: Powerpoint (and OpenOffice Impress) can save individual slides as separate .jpg's. These can then be imported into Photo Story 3 from Microsoft (a free download), which can do audio and a great "Ken Burns-style" panning and zooming animation of your slide show. PS3 creates a .wmv movie that can then be imported into Camtasia's Clip Bin and used for striking intros, credits, and transitions. Be careful with your resolutions to preserve quality, however. Wmv's are a bit tricky if you're converting to Flash.

The PowerPoint .jpg's import directly into Camtasia's Clip Bin nicely as sexy alternatives to Camtasia Title Clips. (Well, you decide if your PowerPoint slides are sexy. . .)
