Brand Spankin' New Release of SnagIt 8.2

Posted on Tuesday December 5, 2006 by Betsy Weber

Put on your party hats, SnagIt Users...SnagIt 8.2 has been released today! What are you going to do to celebrate?!

My favorite feature? The print enhancements. It would never fail, I'd print my SnagIt captures and they'd be about the size of my thumbnail and usually unreadable. SnagIt 8.2 makes it easier to print your screen captures the same way you see them on the screen. Thank you, SnagIt team! You have no idea how many trees this will save...

I also like the new Callout styles. The callouts were updated with new styles - plain and glassy (I like glassy - so pretty and shiny!). The glassy ones are nice because they're transparent and don't cover up the words or images behind them. Also, you can create and save custom callouts with characteristics like size, shape, color and angle of rotation. This is useful if you want to reuse your custom callouts over and over again.

Planning to run Vista and Office 2007? SnagIt is compatible and ready to capture anything on Vista and Office 12.

And, I love this new feature...we have new SnagIt accessories so I can send my screen captures directly to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MindManager, or Flickr with one click! I will be putting those to good use, especially the Flickr one (Have I told you lately how much I love Flickr?!)! Check out the accessories page here.

You can find out more information about what's new in SnagIt 8.2 here and download it here. Screencast should be coming later this week I'm told.

What's your favorite new feature or enhancement? What's on your wishlist for future releases?

How about a single zip file with all the accessories ?

The upload to Flickr doesn't work for me. I always get the following error message:

Couldn't upload file.
4 - Filesize was zero

Any idea what to do about that?

Right you are! Flickr made a change to their servers and it broke the output. But have no fear- we updated it yesterday and you can download the updated version. That's the handy thing about these Accessories- you can get a quick update when something goes awry without having to wait for a new version of SnagIt.
The easiest way is to click "SnagIt Accessories" on the main window- it'll find the update and let you do it right then. Sorry for the problem!

To all my friends at TechSmith!
Once again.... incredible functionality! You responded to my greatest need... the ability to capture and load images into Powerpoint. It used to take 4-6 steps, now it is 2... capture and send to Powerpoint... The integration with formatting is even more powerful... no more scaling by hand!
