Video #3 of 30 - Sizer
Posted on Wednesday September 27, 2006 by Betsy Weber
One of the best tips I got from Troy for making Camtasia Studio videos was about this great little freeware app called 'Sizer'.
When making videos, often you want a uniform window size for the screens you're recording. You can do this easily with Sizer. Sizer allows you set a resize your app, Web page or any window to a predefined size. It's great when record your video, because you can make the windows in your videos a consistent size.
Check out video #3 all about using Sizer with Camtasia Studio. Click the screenshot below to start the video.

Another marvelous tutorial Troy!
Could you share how long it takes you to create, edit, and produce each tutorial? Thanks!
By the way - I think all of us who use Sizer ought to email Brian (of Brian Apps) and thank him for creating and sharing Sizer! His email address is: sizer@brianapps.net Maybe TechSmith might even want to send him some cool swag. :)

Great question, Tim.
I'll make a video about making these videos when the series is done.
Suffice it to say, making the recordings is pretty straight forward and quick. Adding the lower navigation takes a bit more. I'll explain it in a video at another time. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Betsy and Troy.
Troy: Quick follow up question - How do you record your use of Camtasia Recorder?

I use two methods:
1. I use Camtasia Recorder from the forthcoming release to record the recorder from CS 3.
2. I start a recording in PowerPoint, then minimize the slideshow and continue the recording. I have to edit out the PowerPoint stuff and do some zooming and panning later.
#1 is my preferred option. When CS 4 comes out, you'll be able to have both CS 4 and CS 3 installed and use them simultaneously, if you like.

Hey Troy, hope you don't mind if I offer up a third option. :)
If you happen to have our other nifty application, SnagIt, you can use the video recording function in SnagIt to actually record Camtasia Recorder. I've done this a couple of times when I needed to demonstrate Camtasia Recorder.
