TechSmith User Conference?
Posted on Wednesday March 15, 2006 by Betsy Weber
So...I need your input, blog readers.

If we were to have a TechSmith User Conference about all things SnagIt, Camtasia Studio and Morae, would you attend?
No, I wouldn't make you come to Michigan in January! If we were to do this, we'd have the conference in a more central geographical location. It would run one or two days, and it would probably feature top user tips and tricks, feedback sessions with the development teams, tutorial sessions, and conference papers.
There are no guarantees that this will happen – currently, I'm just trying to find out if there's enough interest.
Or, if you didn't want to travel, would you consider doing an online user conference?
I'd love to hear what you think - thanks! Comment away!

TechSmith SHOULD have its own user conference. A great way to share ideas and techniques with others. Have it some place that's warm during winter.

I think this is a great idea, and I like both the in-person as well as virtual options!

I third the motion, and I think the conference should have its own series of online screencasts. I'm going to be bold and suggest the Pacfic North West. There are some beautiful areas in both Washington and Oregon that are 90 minutes outside of Seatle and Portland.
Disclosure: Yes,I live in Oregon and I would travel to a unique area. Getting tired of traveling to the same old expensive convention cities.

Yes -- Great idea. We are using the software heavily at www.gottabemobile.com, and it would be nice to have a concentrated day or two to learn how to use it better!
Depending on timing and cost to get there, we'd love to attend Betsy!

Sure, a f-t-f event that was simul-cast, that might be twice the output for 1.5x the input.
Minneapolis is pretty central, as a 3-season location, yes? Slightly more serious, would Chicago be a location that would be central for those attending, and also close enough to Okemos to allow busloads of T'smith attendance without breaking your budget?

I think not only should you have your own user conference (Chicago, Atlanta, FL, San Diego, Boston) but also think about doing a one or two-day preconference to existing ed tech conferences - for instance at the Michigan MACUL conference next year in Detroit - where there is always a 1-day hands-on preconference. Do a one or two day preconference in concert with it.

Of course you should host a user conference! I think the TechSmith evangelists would love it.

That will be a great idea, I will attend and contribute my 2 cents to this if the travel part is taken out.

I think a 2-day conference on all things TechSmith is a fantastic idea! I'm on the left coast (of the US) but would be happy to go almost anywhere (except Las Vegas or Ottumwa) to meet up with other groovy TechSmith evangelists and users.
Gotta flatten our world together eh?!
